I listen to some early morning preachers every day when I first get up. As Easter is coming, I wanted to share this with you. I heard one of the best examples of why we don’t need to fear death, from one of those preachers. The example was this:
A pastor lost his wife and while on the way (with his two young children) to preach at her funeral, a truck cast a shadow on their car as it passed by. The preacher-dad asked, “Which is worse? to be run over by a truck or by a shadow?” The obvious answer from the children “A truck.” “Exactly,” the father said, “because a shadow can’t hurt you. And that is exactly what death is.”
I love this. Psalm 23″4 says:
“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.”
As Christians we can rejoice because death is just a shadow–it can’t hurt us. Why? Because that is why Jesus came. He conquered sin, death, and the grave. Because He lives, we will live, too. Hallelujah, for Easter–for the cross–for our Savior, Jesus Christ!
