Do you ever just randomly open your Bible because you are in a hurry or you just don’t know what to read? Perhaps you hope the Lord will show you something special by just opening anywhere. I have to admit I have done that.
But as I am reading through the Bible this year, I’ve come to the Psalms, and I’ve been reminded of something. When my husband, Autry, went home to be with the Lord, I found myself reading in the Psalms so many days. What a wonderful book! It’s a book of peace, comfort, instruction, encouragement, direction; full of descriptions of who God is,what He does and has done; past history as well as future things.
So, if you are “just looking” for a good place to read, you can’t go wrong with the Psalms. God will meet you there and give you what your heart needs. David knew what a great God we have and he wrote the following:
“Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, all you that hope in the Lord.” Psalm 31:24
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go; I will guide you with my eye.” Psalm 32:8
So, open the Psalms. You will be blessed!
