If you have ever fallen and broken a bone, yes, it hurts; but you get up and you get over it! If you wake up in the middle of the night with a cramp in your leg, yes, it hurts; but you get up and you get over it! Physical hurts are easier to get over than emotional hurts.
When someone we love and consider a friend turns their back on us, it hurts. When someone says something unkind to us it hurts. We expect so much more from those we are close to and it hurts when we don’t receive it.
We can’t control what other people do or don’t do. The only thing we can control is our own attitude. Let me share with you a few of my own thoughts in regard to this:
Whenever we have a close relationship with someone there is always the possibility of being hurt in some way.
Much of our hurt comes from our expectations in our relationship. We need to be willing to overlook imperfections. (We all have them)
Forgiveness is not an option. We must never stop forgiving anyone no matter how many times we have been hurt.
Bitterness is often the by-product of an unforgiving spirit. There is no prison more damaging.
Pray for the one who has hurt you.
Instead of returning hurt for hurt do acts of love and kindness. Tell yourself, “Yes, It Hurts, BUT…”
