Peace “on earth” will come one day; but it’s going to be far into the future; after Jesus sets up His kingdom on earth during the Millennium.
As for experiencing the peace OF GOD in our lives now; the only way that will truly happen is after we have experienced peace WITH GOD. You see, we are called enemies of God before we are saved (Col. 1:20; Rom. 5:10) and as such, there is no hope of eternity in heaven. There is a void in the heart and a fear of death as one wonders what will happen to him or her when this life is over. Through Jesus Christ this can change.
“Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace WITH GOD through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Rom. 5:1
“For by grace are you saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” Eph. 2:8
You can have a “peace that passes understanding” while experiencing all kinds of trials and difficulties; but you need to receive peace WITH GOD first.
