I know you have seen them–the clips on TV about “Wounded Warriors” or “Tunnel to Towers.” My heart is heavy every time I see them and saddened at the loss of lives, families that will never be the same again, individuals who have to learn how to function differently because of the damage done to their bodies. I’m thankful for them and for their service. May God bless them.
I’m also thinking of others who have been wounded spiritually. Their “injuries” often take them off the front lines and place them on the sidelines or even worse–take them AWOL or MIA. Some of them are just overwhelmed by their circumstances and just “can’t take any more!” Others are hurt deeply by unkind words or actions from friends or loved ones. Others may even be “turned off” to Christianity as they see the hypocrisy in some professing Christians. And there are those who “need Christ” who are the most wounded–kept in bondage by the lies of Satan. John 3:16 can set you free and give you new life.
God is always ready to “bind up the broken hearted.” We can do the same as we “bandage” them with love and kindness and encouragement. And those “wounded warriors,” with the help of the Holy Spirit, need to come to the point where they can forgive and as a result, find healing for their souls.
May we not let another wounded warrior die–physically or spiritually.
