I’m sure everyone of us was heartsick over the tragic airplane and helicopter crash this past week. My prayers have been for those parents of the children and young people who lost their lives as well as all the others who are now suffering the loss of their loved ones.
Being a leader in a Grief Share group in my church, I know there are no immediate answers to the “why” things like this happens. This is not something any of those grieving are going to get over quickly. In fact, it will be a long journey for each of them. My only prayer is that they will seek the Lord and the comfort that only He can give them.
Life can be full of pain in many ways and I’m sure all of you, in some way, have, or are experiencing your own pain right now. So, let me ask – how’s that going? Are you relying on your own resources to get you through, or are you calling on our All Mighty God for strength, help and peace? You may be on a long journey, too, but you know what? God wants to walk it with you. He already knows what you are going through. You just need to cast your burden on Him and lean on Him.
But let me talk about the other end of the story. What if you were the one that tragedy hit suddenly and took your life? Would you have been ready to face eternity? We don’t know from one moment to another when our “time is up.” One thing is certain; God loves you. He sent His Son, Jesus, to die on the cross for your sins, and you can be sure of going to heaven if you trust the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior, ask Him to forgive your sins, and come into your life. (See John 3:16)
Do you need to make this decision? Are you ready to do that now? Before it is too late!
