Whenever we have a heavy rain I’m often reminded of the account in Genesis of Noah and the ark. During all the years of the construction of the ark Noah preached warning the people that judgment was coming because of the wickedness of the sin in the world. Even as the animals were entering the ark, the mocking and jeers continued in unbelief. But suddenly scripture says God closed the door. The thunder and lightning and the roar of the water came close behind. We can only imagine the screaming and pounding on the ark to let them in; but it was too late! There was no hope. They had their chance and they said, “No” to the safety of the ark.
Today there is another door that stands open. It’s through the cross and Jesus stands with arms open wide ready to welcome those who will trust and accept Him as their Savior and Lord. We don’t know how long that door is going to stay open, but when it closes; it’s closed! Unfortunately, many will be left standing outside. There will be no hope for them.
How long will God continue to hold off His wrath as the wickedness around the world continues to get worse and worse every day? God is a God of grace and mercy, but He is also holy and just and will tolerate evil only so long before He brings judgment.
Perhaps we’re beginning to see a little of that already. But consider this – will you be left “outside” or will you be inside in the safety of the “Ark?” You don’t want to be one of those left outside!
John 10:9 says: “I am the door: by me if any man enter in, He shall be saved.”
