I love my early morning walks. It’s when I “talk to the Lord.” This is also how my books began and thus the title of one of them: “A Morning Walk with God.” Friday morning some feathery clouds caught my attention and reminded me of the words of another precious old hymn by William O. Cushing; “Under His Wings.” These are the words:
Under His wings I am safely abiding, Tho’ the night deepens and tempests are wild, Still I can trust Him; I know He will keep me. He has redeemed me, and I am His child.
Under His wings–what a refuge in sorrow! how the heart yearningly turns to His rest! Often when earth has no balm for my healing, There I find comfort, and there I am blest.
Under His wings–O what precious enjoyment! There will I hide till life’s trials are o’er; Sheltered, protected, no evil can harm me. Resting in Jesus, I’m safe evermore.
CHORUS: Under His wings, under His wings, Who from His love can sever? Under His wings my soul shall abide, Safely abide forever.
If you’re like me, we can go through some very difficult days now and then; whether it’s dealing with grief and sorrow, pain and suffering, trials and tribulations. When we can’t find answers, comfort or help from anyone or anything; there is One in whom we can trust and find rest for our souls–it’s in Jesus.
May you find that peace today as you let Him cover you with His wings.
“He shall cover you with his feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust: His truth shall be your shield and buckler.” Psalm 91:4
