We’ve had some very windy days over the past few months and my yard has been covered with many twigs of all sizes as well as small and large branches. Most of them were dead any way and were easily blown off the trees. Now they’re raked up, thrown into a large heap, just waiting their fate in Batavia’s yard waste.
Life is full of storms of all kinds. We are either going to be blown away by them or we will stand strong and tall. How we face these storms is determined by our relationship with the Lord. If we are daily in the word and talking to Him in prayer we will be assured that God is holding us fast. We won’t be blown into despair or discouragement, or into worry or fear no matter how strong the storm may be. We will keep trusting in our Elohim – the Strong Faithful One, who never fails us.
Those that fall are going to be like the foolish man mentioned in Matt. 7:26, 27 when “the rain descended, and the floods came and the winds blew and beat upon that house and it fell: and great was the fall of it.”
These are two different people living in two different ways and there will be two different results at the end of life.
“Every man’s work shall be made manifest, for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. If any man’s work abide which he has built on, he shall receive a reward. If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss.” I Cor. 3:13
There’s always a choice to make in this life. But don’t forget just how brief this life is. Only one ways leads to eternal life.
Don’t be like those dead twigs and branches, but “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved” Acts 16:31. Time is of the essence.
