When I was in the work force years ago I always looked forward to holidays so I’d have a day or so off. Yet I, and probably many of us have said, “There’s just no end to the work I have to do!” Well, some day there will be an end to it; whether it’s at the end of our life or when the Lord calls us at the Rapture. But in the meantime, God does expect us to work and all He asks of us is to be faithful. That can apply both to secular and spiritual work.
“Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God: And whatsoever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men…” Col. 3:22,23
“Moreover, it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.” I Cor. 4:1
So, be faithful to the end, in whatever God has given you to do. But also enjoy those days off–enjoy that picnic today. Hmmmmm, I wonder who is going to do all that work to get ready for that!
