Can you imagine the shepherds on the night of the birth of our Savior? Their routine night turned into the most thrilling night of their lives as an angel suddenly appeared and delivered a message that would change history.
“And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David, A Savior, which is Christ the Lord.”
Luke 2:10,11
It didn’t take the shepherds long after all the angels were gone to head to Bethlehem to see for themselves what had come to pass. And of all the places (a stable) for a baby to be born–but THIS BABY – the Savior of the world – a King? (Scripture says: “But He made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Himself the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men”).
The shepherd wasted no time to spread the joyful news of what they had heard and seen; and many wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.
Perhaps today you have also “wondered” about those things of the Christmas story. I can only imagine the joy in heaven should you become a believer and trust in this wonderful Savior who came as a baby, grew, and suffered and died on a cross for you; so that you could have everlasting life. And I can only imagine the joy you, too, would feel.
What a wonderful gift that would be!
