Do you find it hard to remember people’s names? One thing I try to do when I meet someone new is to write their name as soon as I can. At the “Y” I’ve been meeting several regular attendees and I’m striving to remember as many names as possible. There was one elderly lady that I was finally able to learn her name. She seldom smiled. But a few days ago, as I headed to the bikes and walked past her, I said cheerfully, “Good morning, _______,” (I used her name). Her face literally lit up, eyes brightened and a big smile emerged as she returned my greeting. There’s something about using a person’s name that makes them feel a little special. It’s just a little way to show love and kindness.
But there is Someone who already knows our name. His name can bring us peace, comfort and joy like no other. That name is Jesus. He is Lord, Master, Savior, Mighty King, Shepherd, Rock of all ages, Almighty God; and He wants to hear us call on His name daily. We have that privilege to come boldly before the throne of grace as His child. Are you putting a smile on Jesus’ face every day by talking to Him? It will also put a smile on your own face because there is something about that name!
