Whenever I get to do any travelling through some mountainous areas, I am always amazed to see trees and bushes growing out of what looks like solid rock. It’s like, “how can they grow?” I can only imagine their roots going deep and being nourished as they stand tall and withstand all kinds of weather.
Jesus is the foundation of our faith. He is called our “Rock,” and is also “the chief cornerstone” of our faith. I’m so glad that whenever things around me are ready to give way, I can cling to that “Rock.” He won’t let me sink. He will not fail me nor forsake me. Trusting in anyone or anything else is like sinking sand as the chorus of “The Solid Rock,” by Edward mote says:
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand – All other ground is sinking sand, All other ground is sinking sand.
Our roots need to cling to the Rock so we, too, can stand tall, through all kinds of weather.
