The following Psalm is an encouragement to me. I trust it will be to you also.
Psalm 18 starts out in verse 1 with David saying, “I love thee, O LORD, my strength.” David didn’t claim any power or abilities in himself, but gives God all the glory. In the next verse he uses 7 different images to describe God. He says the Lord is his: rock, fortress, deliver, my God, strength, shield, refuge.
Certainly the Lord is worthy to be praised as David stated in verse 3: “I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised.” And He is the One to whom David cried out to: “In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried unto my God, and He heard my voice…”
I hope even reading just this much will encourage your heart during these trying days. We have an awesome God who wants to hear from you. He knows what you are going through and He is able to help you with whatever you are facing today.
For now, read again those 7 descriptive words of God and claim them for yourself.
I hope some time this day you will take time to read the whole chapter. It is a well filled with encouragement. We all need it.
