Most of us, probably many times, have asked the simple question, “Why?” So, you aren’t alone. David, in the Psalms asked, “why,” and even Jesus, himself, asked, why? “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Matt. 27:46.
So many times there are no answers to that “why.” So, what do we do then? Throw our hands up, give up, become bitter, lose hope? Those are not good options.
We have to remember that God is in control of all the things in our life and He is working all things together for our good.
I like the book of Habakkuk. Habakkuk thought God didn’t care what was happening and he asked, “Why do you allow evil and wickedness to continue in Judah?” He didn’t like God’s answer, but God added, “The just shall live by faith.” Hey! that’s also the bottom line to our “why.” Trust God! We don’t need to know the answer to our why, we just need to trust God and live by faith. Habakkuk wrote in chapter 3:17, “Although the fig tree shall not blossom” (and several others things) he later wrote in verses 18,19 “Yet I will rejoice in the Lord. I will joy in the God of my salvation. The Lord God is my strength, and He will make my feet like hinds feet, and He will make me to walk upon my high places.”
So, go ahead and ask your “why” question if you’d like, but remember who God is, what He is like, and when answers aren’t enough just TRUST!
