Last week on one of my morning walks, the sun had just begun to shine its beautiful rays onto the sidewalk now covered with a thick layer of freshly fallen golden leaves. It was absolutely beautiful. I pulled out my phone and snapped this picture.
My mind and heart were immediately filled with thoughts of heaven and being able, one day, to walk streets of gold with our Savior Jesus Christ, and all those loved ones who have gone on before. Oh what we have to look forward to!
Do you remember this hymn – “Mansion over the Hilltop” by Ira F. Stanphill?
I’m satisfied with just a cottage below, A little silver and a little gold; But in that city where the ransomed will shine I want a gold one that’s silver lined.
I’ve got a mansion just over the hilltop, In that bright land where we’ll never grow old; And someday yonder we will nevermore wander But walk the streets that are purest gold.
John in Revelation 21:21 wrote:
“And the twelve gates were twelve pearls…and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.
I can only imagine — for now!
