The weatherman! Sometimes he’s right – sometimes he’s not. But when we hear we could get up to 20″ of snow and wind as high as 60 miles an hour, we pay closer attention and begin to make some preparations for what might be. Got enough food, what if electric goes off, enough blankets, candles, gas in the car – just a few things to check. Better to be safe than sorry.
Storms in our lives are so different. There’s no one to say, “Hey, be prepared, you are about to be hit with a major situation; it’s looking very ominous. Our storms are not predictable, but chances are, they will come; we just don’t know when. My advice and encouragement to you is to be prepared ahead of time by being in the Word of God every day. We can’t control the storms that come our way, but we can know the One who is in control of all of them. We can trust Him to see us through, to provide our needs for the situation, to give us strength, and wisdom to know what to do.
When those “winds” begin to blow (no matter how hard they may be) you can call unto Him and trust Him to see you through because you’ve been in the Word; you already know who He is and what He can and will do.” You don’t have to be afraid.
You can make no better preparation for any coming storm in life than committing yourself into the hands of our great and almighty God, because he cares for you and will take care of you.
