Over the past few weeks my car has demanded several repairs. It started out with a flat tire. When that was fixed I was told my brakes should be replaced. When that was done I was told my shocks/struts had a leak and they should be replaced. When they were replaced by my mechanic, I was told my tires should be aligned, but that they didn’t do that kind of work at his shop and I’d have to take it somewhere else! I was able to do that but even though I had an appointment, the waiting time for them to even start was over an hour. But finally, all was done and I felt a little safer driving my car.
We do what we have to do for our vehicles to keep them running well, don’t we? We need to be as concerned, and more so, when it comes to our own bodies: physically and spiritually. God created each of us; we are special creatures and I believe He wants us to take care of our bodies. I think that can include how and what we eat, and if possible, to exercise in some manner according to our capabilities.
Our spiritual lives are more important. Are you feeding and caring for it in the way you should? It’s like we start out with a flat tire. We aren’t going to go anywhere until that’s fixed. So, we need to start with accepting God’s gift of salvation. But along this journey there are some things that need to be replaced. Old things (old ways) need to be replaced with the new (godly principles); old attitudes need to be replaced with new attitudes; the things of the flesh need to be replaced with the things of the spirit. All of these replacements bring us into alignment with what God wants for our lives; a life that is safe in His hands and bringing glory and honor to Him; a life that is following His Instruction Book, trusting and obeying the One who helps make all of these “replacements” possible in our lives. How are your replacements coming?
