When I was a kid my brothers and I, along with several neighbor kids, often played hide ‘n seek. While one counted to 100 the rest of us would run and hide. When he reached 100 he would shout, “Ready or not, here I come!” While he was trying to find us, we could take a chance, run “home” and shout, “Home Free” before being caught.
The more I thought about this, it reminded me of people’s relationship to the Lord. So many are trying to hide from the Lord in one way or another. Many don’t even realize that Jesus is seeking them. Other’s will respond and accept Jesus’ wonderful offer of salvation and one day will be able to say, “Home Free” as they enter the gates of heaven.
Those “hiding” from the Lord are playing a dangerous game because we know one day Jesus is going to come again and then the opportunity to trust Him as Savior will be gone. They will never be able to say, “Home free!”
There will come that day when Jesus is going to say, “Ready or not–here I Come!” Are you looking forward to His coming, or are you still hiding? Are you ready?
“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. …..Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be ready” (my word). I Thess. 4:16,17; 5:6
It could be today!
