I have no idea what these flowers are called; I just named them “Night Bloomers.” They are a beautiful flower that opens as the sun is setting, blooms all night and into the early morning hours. Since I can’t enjoy them very much through the day, pictures will have to suffice.
I love the lesson they have brought to me. When everything seems to be going well in my life it’s so much easier to “bloom,” to smile, to put on a happy face, to be a good example and testimony for the Lord Jesus Christ. But what happens when “night falls,” when those difficult times hit (trials, tribulation, health issues, etc.) come upon me; do I still bloom in spite of it all?
I want to be like my “Night Bloomer” so that in spite of any hardship I may face I want Jesus to be seen in me. I want others to know that no matter what we are going through, Jesus has us in His hands. He loves us, He cares for us and will be with us to the end (and beyond).
A verse I use for encouragement in those “night seasons” is Psalm 42:11 —
“Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you disquieted within me? Hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.”
We may get down, but we are not out. Jesus is our hope and we can always (day or night – good times or hard times) praise and rejoice because of all He is and who He is.
