My laptop had been giving me fits for some time. It’s old, slow and was showing signs that I really needed a new one. But that wasn’t in the picture. Things didn’t look very hopeful until a good friend suggested that I may not need a new one, but just exchange its insides to bring it up-to-date. That’s exactly what happened – new parts, old parts gone, and wow! New life in my laptop.
Kind of like us, isn’t it? Before salvation we really don’t have any hope of getting to heaven on our own. It isn’t until we realize all that Jesus has done for us and we ask Him to forgive us and to be our Savior and Lord; and what does He do? He exchanges our old life for a new life in Christ. “Old things are passed away, behold, all things become new.”
We have no guarantee of tomorrow. We don’t have to be old to die–we just need to be ready. We need an exchanged life (that guarantees us eternal life) and only Christ can do that. Jesus says,” I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father except by me.” John 14:6
Have you experienced new life in Christ?
