Have you found yourself saying lately, “What are you trying to do, Lord? Our world is falling apart! Calm my fears, Lord.” These are times when many of us find ourselves full of questions and wonders, along with fear.
There’s a verse that I have found very informative and comforting:
“As for God, His way is perfect, the word of the Lord is tried. He is a shield to all those that trust in Him.” Ps. 18:30
We don’t always understand the “why’s” about the things that are going on in our life or in the world. We need to remember that God is sovereign and in control and as the verse says–His way is perfect (even when it may not make any sense to us). He will do what is right.
The Word of God is mentioned next. It’s there we need to go for our instruction, help and peace because His words are faithful and true. We can totally rely on them.
The final words of encouragement in that verse tell us that if we trust in Him He will be our shield. I believe part of that is protecting our minds from fear and worry.
“For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” II Tim. 1:7
God never changes; but perhaps we need to change–change our minds (change our thinking) from fear and worry to simply trusting in the One who is in control of all things. He’s got you in His hands.
