Anyone who has gone through an illness or surgery knows that afterwards it is necessary to just take some baby steps to get back into your normal activities. It’s not always easy to “put the brakes on” or to be patient with yourself as you realize you just can’t do what you used to do. This week I made some little achievements. They really were minor things and yet to me they felt like major victories as I haven’t been able to do them for weeks.
Spiritually, I’ve also struggled, wondering, “How can the Lord use me? Will He use me any more? What are His plans for me now?” I realize it may be awhile before I know the answers to these questions.
What I do know is that there are seasons in our lives and some times God justs wants us “to be still and know that He is God.” Taking more time in the Word can certainly help in that area.
And as far as “doing things” for the Lord–maybe you and I can’t “do what we used to do,” and perhaps we need to just take some baby steps. God knows our hearts but His desire is that we just be faithful in whatever we can do. Certainly praying is one of those things we all can do. We need to pray for one another in these trying days, pray for peace in our nation, for our president and government officials, our pastors, and our law enforcement.
“I exhort therefore, that first of all supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men. For kings, and for all that are in authority…” I Tim. 2:1,2
If prayer isn’t a part of your daily routine, perhaps this can be one of your “little achievements” this week. Remember with little achievements there often is BIG reward!
