I have always known that bitterness can eat like a cancer and it needs to be dealt with as soon as possible as it can cause literal physical damage. I think there are at least two more things that should be added to that – worry and fear. They, too, can do the same thing. They are like facing ferocious lions that are coming at you looking for an easy meal to devour.
Perhaps you are dealing with something right now and you know exactly what I mean. I have to admit, I think the Lord is trying my faith; perhaps stretching my faith right now as I’ve found myself caught up in worry and fear. It hasn’t been a pretty picture. I have felt weak (yes, even physically) but I know where my strength comes from to overcome. The Lord has been drawing my attention to so many scripture verses that are telling me I need to take these worries and fears that have rapidly grown and refuse to let them have power over me any longer, because “Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world” I John 4:4. I need to; you need to leave them with the Lord and trust God, no matter what.
Here’s just a few verses to claim: Isa. 41:13 “For, I, the Lord your God will hold your right hand, saying unto you, Fear not, I will help you.” I Pet. 5:7 “Casting all your care on Him for H cares for you.”
The problem is that so many times we take them back. We (I) need to learn to “Leave it There” (in the Lord’s hands) as this old hymn “Leave it There” says:
If the world from you withhold of its silver and its gold, And you have to get along with meager fare, Just remember, in His word, how He feeds the little bird: Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there
If your body suffers pain and your health you can’t regain. And your soul is almost sinking in despair, Jesus knows the pain you feel. He can save and He can heal; Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.
When your enemies assail and your heart begins to fail. Don’t forget that God in heaven answers prayer; He will make a way for you and will lead you safely thro’; Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.
When your youthful days are gone and old age is stealing on, And your body bends beneath the weight of care; He will never leave you then, He’ll go with you to the end. Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.
Chorus: Leave it there, leave it there, Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.
