I had the privilege of having one of my granddaughters with her husband and their 5 children visit for a few days this week. It was a special time of making some precious memories as most of the grandchildren had never been to my home before. They set up their adorable popup camper in my back yard and will do the same as they continue their vacation travels. It all made me think how we are just sojourners in this life; this world is not our home; and how quickly life passes.
I’m grateful for the family and home God has given to me and I hope you are, too; but one day we’ll all be leaving this behind (and it sure does pass quickly). Are you looking forward to what God has ahead for you in eternity, or are you sort of dreading to find out where or what that may mean for you?
God isn’t willing that any should perish (II Pet. 3:9). In other words, He doesn’t want any to perish and He has made a way through Jesus, His Son, for us to know we have a home in heaven waiting for us. It’s a matter of accepting His free gift of salvation. Acts 16:31 says; “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved.” Scripture also says in James 4:14 “Life is a vapor that appears for a little time, then vanishes away.” None of us know the number of our days, so don’t think you can wait until tomorrow as tomorrow may never come! Perhaps you have heard this saying, “Only one life; will soon be past. Only what’s done for Christ will last.”
Nothing on this earth can begin to compare with what God has in heaven for us. And perhaps now we don’t get to see our family as often as we’d like; but in heaven there will be no “good-byes!”
