Just think about those three words. In them is power. In them is joy. In them is peace. In them is assurance.
In the Bible, the book of John, chapter 14, Jesus was trying to comfort his disciples before He actually went to the cross. He spoke of mansions in heaven, of His return, of the Holy Spirit (who would come and be our Comforter). He said, “Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (14:27b).
Oh, my friends, if ever we needed those words of comfort it’s now.
Our Risen Savior has conquered sin, death and the grave. The song, “Because He Lives,” by Bill and Gloria Gaither says it all:
God sent His Son–they called Him Jesus;
He came to love, heal, and forgive.
He lived and died to buy my (our) pardon;
An empty grave is there to prove my (our) Savior lives.
Because He lives I can face tomorrow; Because He lives, all fear is gone,
Because I know He holds the future, and life is worth the living just because He lives.
Hallelujah! Jesus is alive! And because He lives, we don’t have to fear death or anything else this life holds in store for us. That’s what Easter Sunday (Resurrection Sunday) means to us!
