Yesterday we celebrated the greatest day in history. Yes, it is history; proven history as over 500 people saw the risen Savior before He ascended into heaven. (You can read this in I Cor. 15:5-8). I’d like you to think about the three words of my title – Jesus is alive! In them is power. In them is joy. In them is peace. In them is assurance.
Before Jesus went to the cross He was trying to comfort His disciples as we read in John 14. He spoke of mansions in heaven, of His return, of the Holy Spirit who would come and be our comforter. He said to them: “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in me” vs. 1. Oh, my friends, if ever we needed those words of comfort it is now.
Our risen Savior has conquered sin, death and the grave. The song, “Because He Lives,” by Bill and Gloria Gaither says it all:
God sent His Son – they called Him Jesus: He came to love, heal, and forgive,
He lived and died to buy my pardon; An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives.
Because He lives I can face tomorrow; Because He lives, all fear is gone.
Because I know He holds the future, and life is worth the living just because He lives.
Hallelujah! Jesus is alive! And because He lives, we don’t have to fear death or anything else this life holds in store for us. This is why Easter Sunday is so special to us.
