Were you singing to the tune of the “Blues” during the month of January? A lot of people do. Well, January is over, but we still have at least five or six more weeks of winter. It can be very depressing if we let it. Rather than being down-trodden, I found some things in Psalm 95 we should do that will brighten our days and lift our spirits. See if you agree. it says:
Let us sing unto the Lord.
Let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.
Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving.
Let us worship and bow down.
Let us kneel before the Lord our maker.
Why should we do this? Because:
He is our salvation — He is a great God — He is a great King — He is the Creator of all things (including us) — He is our God — We are the people of His pasture — We are the sheep of His hand.
Isn’t that better than being down in the dumps? The psalmist concludes and says, “Don’t harden your hearts.” Why? There is simply too much to be grateful for; especially for this awesome God we have.
May the rest of your winter be filled with joyful tunes and not the “Blues.”
