I may be crazy, but I do like the snow. A few weeks ago, we had our first snow fall of the year. It was beautiful and was clinging to everything. The evergreens look frosted with fluffy white frosting. Everything was simply “snow pretty!”
Snow is mentioned in Isaiah 1:18 in a different way. “..though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow…” I had always thought of our sins as being black, but here it says “like scarlet;” and for a reason. In that culture a dye was made from some tiny insects. The color was permanent; it could not be washed out by any means. That’s like our sin; no matter how good we are, no matter if we go to church, no matter how much money we may give or just doing our best; nothing but the shed blood of Jesus can take our sins away.
Christmas is almost here. How grateful I am for Jesus’ birth. He was called the Savior right from the beginning. That’s why He came. “Jesus is the reason for the season!” And His gift of salvation is for all who call on the name of the Lord, who ask for forgiveness and for Him to be the Lord of their life.
Have your sins been cleansed and made as white as snow? If not, that free gift is waiting for you to receive it.
