Our adult Bible Fellowship has been watching and discussing a video series on heaven. As I sat there yesterday my memory was taking me back 34 years to the day that my mom passed away. I’ll never forget that Sunday morning when we received a call saying mom was in the hospital with pneumonia. But not even eight hours later a second phone call came saying they were calling the family in; mom was dying. We lived a few hours away and by the time we arrived at the hospital she had already passed into eternity. (She’d had a massive heart attack). I’ve missed her terribly.
We’ve all lost someone (I have several), but death is only a separation from our loved ones for a time if we are children of God. Jesus came to save us from sin and give us eternal life if we trust him as our Savior. The Bible says:
“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God, that you may KNOW that you have eternal life, and that you may believe on the name of the Son of God.”
I John 5:24
You see, that’s our hope when this life is over – heaven awaits us and we’ll once again be with our loved ones. Jesus has made this possible because He loves us so much. Is this your “know so hope?”
