For several weeks I’ve been going to our new Y in town. Besides walking the track and riding bike, I’ve taken advantage of the “E gym.” When I first started there was one piece of equipment I had difficulty with. Since I have had repair on both my shoulders there is still a lot of weakness in them, so, I wasn’t able to push up very far. However, after weeks have gone by, I’m now able to push up (at least part way) using a slight up/down motion and holding it up until the completion of the cycle – far from perfect, but growing stronger!
Isn’t that what God wants us to do in our spiritual walk with Him? But our spiritual strength comes in a different way. It actually comes outside of ourselves. Oh, yes, there is something we need to do and that’s be in God’s word daily because that’s where we grow the most in our faith as we learn more about God and who He is. And the more we learn about Him the more we trust Him and know that He is where our strength comes from. Oh, how we need that when trials and heartaches face us.
I hope these few verses will encourage you today:
Ps. 18:2 “The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer: my God, my strength, in whom I will trust.”
Ps. 27;1 “…the Lord is the strength of my life: of whom shall I be afraid?”
Ps. 46:1 “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
Ps. 73:26 “My flesh and my heart fails; but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
I trust your spiritual muscles are growing every day!
