Friday morning on my early morning walk, I was blessed again as I watched the rays of the sun breaking through the tops of the trees. The first thing that came to my mind was the words of the second verse of the wonderful hymn “Great is Thy Faithfulness.”
Summer and winter, and spring-time and harvest, Sun, moon and stars in their courses above,
Join with all nature in manifold witness, To thy great faithfulness, mercy, and love.
Chorus: Great, is thy faithfulness! Great is thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed thy hand hath provided–Great is thy faithfulness, Lord unto me!
My mind was flooded with thoughts of how God has shown His faithfulness to me over the years of my life; how He has led and provided–first for my husband and me and our family, and now, since he’s been gone, for myself. There’s not a day that goes by that I’m not grateful for His blessings.
The verse in the hymn mentions three things in particular–His mercy, love and provisions. I feel I am still alive after having a heart attack a year ago because of His mercy and love; and He keeps providing every day for all my needs.
So, as I think about present day situations and what the future may have in store; my mind can rest in peace because of a faithful God who is always with me; who loves me and who will continue to supply my needs. I hope this day you will remember God’s faithfulness to you over the years and know that as He has been, He will continue to be; so we all can say:
“Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord unto me!”
