It’s been many years since I’ve had a live Christmas tree; but you just can’t beat the fragrance from them, can you? It seems to fill the whole house with peace and joy. What a wonderful gift from one of God’s creation!
I’m thinking about another tree that God grew – the tree that bore our precious Savior on the cross of Calvary. I wonder; was it a tall pine with its branches reaching toward heaven or was it one with branches already dying or broken? Either way, by the time it was cut down and formed into a cross it was an ugly, cruel sight and the body of Christ, beaten and torn hung there with only the color red dripping from His body. Not a pretty sight. But it was all for you and me.
This Christ season as we enjoy our trees, let’s not forget that the little baby born on Christmas day would grow up to give His life on a different kind of tree so that we could have eternal life.
“But God commended His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Rom. 5:8
