My devotions took me one day to the story of Paul as he was being sent to Rome by ship to be put on trial. There was a total of 276 men on board, many of whom were also prisoners. When a strong wind storm arose threatening the safety of the ship and men, Paul was assured by an angel of God that not one would perish if they stayed in the ship.
We can have courage when our “ship” is being tossed with the waves of stress and trials, too. Because of our faith, we can claim and say,
“God is our (my) refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will we (I) not fear.” Ps. 46:1,2a
And because of this verse:
“Be still and know that I am God.” Ps. 46:10
I can remain in my “tossed about ship” and be safe and know God will see me through.
