One day last week I was the passenger in a car as we headed to our destination. Driving down Main Street, Batavia there was a large truck pulling a long flat-bed trailer behind it. It had several tires on it, but one on the outside was bouncing up and down and shaking as if it was ready to fly off. “We need to warn that driver,” I said; so pulling up beside the cab, I rolled my window down and waved my hands at the driver and pointed at the wheel. He didn’t respond to my antics. As we neared the next red light, we let him catch up to us. Rolling the window down again and reaching out farther, I again waved my hands and yelled! No response! “What’s with this, guy?” No response again! How could he not see me? Or maybe he thought I was crazy or something else. All I wanted to do was warn him. It could be dangerous for him or another car and driver. We could do nothing more.
I’m just reminded about the times we may try to warn others about the judgement that is coming on unbelievers. We let them know how much God loves them; so much that He sent His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to be a sacrifice for our sins. He died, was buried and rose again from the dead so that we could have everlasting life. Maybe they listen, but they don’t respond. Maybe they totally ignore the fact that they could spend eternity in hell if they don’t receive Jesus as their Savior. They have no idea that danger is ahead and they go on their merry way.
With the Easter weekend coming we rejoice in all that Jesus has done for us. We need to continue to do all we can to spread the Good News to others; continue to warn them; as we know the day is drawing closer when Jesus will return. Whether they listen or not; whether they respond or not isn’t our responsibility. The decision is theirs.
My prayer today is that anyone reading this now will heed the warning and respond in faith to God’s invitation of salvation; believing all Jesus has done for them, and know for certain they will spend eternity in heaven with our blessed Savior.
