We are so predictable in many situations (at least I know I am). When things aren’t going my way, or as fast as I think, they should my first response is impatience. So many times I react when I should act. How about you? I go to Psalm 37 often because it helps me see things the way God wants me to. You might want to grab your Bible because I’m going to go through some verses in this psalm in 3 different ways and if we ACT instead of REACT the result will be amazing. So here we go:
THIS IS HOW I WILL ACT:
v. 1 – I will be patient.
v. 3 – I will trust – I will not concentrate on my situation, but on the ONE who is in control.
v. 4 – I will delight in the Lord – and focus on Him.
v. 5 – I will commit my way to the Lord. I will trust Him to lead me step by step.
v. 7-9 – I will rest in the Lord and wait patiently and not become angry.
v. 11 – I will manifest meekness – which is strength under control
v. 16, 17, 19 – I will be satisfied and content.
I WILL NOT REACT IN THE FOLLOWING MANNER:
v. 1 – worry or be fretful
v. 3 – concentrate on my problem – lack faith
v. 4 – criticize, complain, focus on self
v 5 – do my own thing and go my own way
v. 7-9 – be impatient, fret, show anger, do things like the world
v. 11 – lack self control
v. 16, 17, 19 – be dissatisfied, discontent.
THE RESULTS WILL BE AMAZING – I WILL:
v. 1 – Know that God is in control
v. 3 – Know the Lord will take care of me
v. 4 – Know God will give me the desires of my heart as I delight in Him
v. 5 – Know the Lord WILL direct me
v. 7-9 – Know the Lord is going to bless me
v. 11 – Know the Lord will give me peace
v. 16, 17, 19 – Know the Lord will meet my needs and I will be satisfied
Are there disappointments or other things in your life that are casing you to lose control? How have you been handling it? Perhaps now is the time for you to ACT – not REACT. CHANGE YOUR HABIT!
