We’ve already had some cold weather and more is on its way. With the prices of gas and electric on the rise we all get concerned with where to set our thermostats. We want to be comfortable but we also don’t want our bill to go so high we can’t afford it, so we’re tempted to “go low” on the thermostat setting which may not be so good for us.
Did you know we have a “spiritual thermostat” in us? It’s the Holy Spirit who will let us know when things are either “too hot” or “too cold” or perhaps “just right!” When tempers flare and anger rises it’s that convicting voice you hear inside that’s telling you to “cool down.” On the other, when you avoid talking to someone or avoid being around a certain person for whatever reason, that same convicting voice may be telling you to “warm up” more to that one.
Ignoring that voice (in whatever direction it’s headed) can lead to either severed relationships or halt new friendships. We have the choice to listen or not listen. So, we can control the “spiritual temperature” in our life as we recognize what our “thermostat” is telling us and then just do what is right.
