Many Christian homes display the above verse in their homes. It’s one of my favorites, taken from the historical account in Joshua, chapter 24. The Israelites were now dwelling in the land God had promised them. After Joshua’s exhortation using those words in the verse, they replied, “The Lord God we will serve, and his voice will we obey.”
God blessed our nation from the beginning and its foundation was built on godly principles. How sad that today many are choosing to ignore those godly guidelines. I’m not going to name names because you know who they are, Lord; there are those in leadership over our country, our states, our cities and towns who are destroying our country, our freedom, our economy. They have no love for you. I know You, Lord, judge a nation by its leaders. I don’t need to say any more.
In the Book of Judges people were doing whatever they thought was “right in their own eyes.” You brought judgment. Think of our own country. Do I need to say more? I think not.
We need a revival in our country, Lord, in our homes, and in our churches. We also need a spiritual awakening. People have become so complacent and compromising with the world. So many don’t even recognize or realize there is a God; a sovereign God who is in control of everything and one day (though He is still waiting patiently for souls to come to Him) He is going to say, “Enough!” I pity those souls who continue to say “No” to God and what will happen to them after that.
God has said, “Today is the day of salvation. Harden not your hearts.” We don’t know what tomorrow will bring; for some of us there may not be a tomorrow. Search your heart, my friends. Are you ready to hear that trumpet sound? Please don’t put off making the most important decision of your life (your eternal life!). You can become God’s child today and you can know that no matter what may happen around you, you are safe and secure in His hands.
THE COICE IS YOURS!
