There have only been a few times that I have actually climbed to the top of a mountain. But it was so refreshing to reach the summit. Even then, one needed to be careful because the smallest stone or rock cold send you spiraling over a cliff.
This past weekend several of us presented the play, “It’s a Wonderful Life” at our church. For several months we were on a long climb to reach the point where we all felt comfortable presenting it to our church family and our community. Learning lines, learning where we were supposed to be on stage and when, working with our stage crew and sound people and receiving instruction from our wonderful director was all part of it. Lots of work was involved and yes, times of laughter and fun. At last we felt we were reaching our mountain top – ready for opening night! It didn’t disappoint us as everything went well. We kept our momentum for two more performances. In spite of sickness attacking our main character and some others, God blessed. It was a mountain top experience!
I’ve learned from experience that’s when we need to be careful. We can tend to relax and not be on guard of Satan’s subtle attacks. He may place small stones or rocks in your way, hoping to make you fall. Sometimes it’s just the let down itself after an exciting event in your life that can send you over the edge. Don’t let Satan rob you of mountain top experiences. Stay alert.
And remember: there is always some kind of mountain to climb.
