A little boy was about to have an experience of a lifetime. I can see him rising early in the morning and asking his mother, “Is it time to go yet?” He couldn’t wait to go with his father that day and join the multitude that was already gathering by the mountain so they could see and hear Jesus. He grabbed his lunch of 5 barley loaves and 2 small fish that his mother had made him, and off they went.
There were thousands of people gathered and as the day wore on they were hungry. I can almost see his little face as Jesus asked him if He could have his lunch. His eyes must have gotten so big as he watched Jesus give thanks to the heavenly Father and then see everyone take some bread and fish as the disciples walked through the crowd of 5000+. He had to be jumping for joy. Jesus used his lunch! Perhaps he was thinking, “No one but God can do this. Jesus must be God!
“And when he had taken the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and brake the loaves, and gave them to his disciples to set before them; and the two fish divided he among them all. And they did all eat, and were filled.” Mark 6:41,42
Like this little boy, we need to love Jesus so much that we are willing to give whatever we have in our hands to Jesus and let Him use us for His glory to bring others to Himself. What do you have that Jesus can use? If we love Him, He will multiply over and over again the fruit of our love. What a basket full of joy that will be!
