We can be real good at making excuses, can’t we? Especially if we don’t want to do something or go somewhere. We may say that we have a prior commitment, or we’re really not feeling well, or we have to get our car fixed before we can go anywhere.
But don’t we do the same when the Lord is asking us to do something? Remember what Moses said when God was asking him to lead his people out of Egypt? He said, “I’m not eloquent, I’m slow of speech and slow of tongue.” What about Jeremiah? He said something very similar; “I cannot speak, for I am a youth.” But look what Isaiah said when the Lord asked, “Whom shall I send and who will go for us?” Isaiah answered, “Here am I! Send me.”
We may often feel unqualified in several areas, so we say, “No,” to the Lord because we don’t think we have the training and abilities like some others have. But notice what God said to Moses and Jeremiah. “I will teach you what to say.” (Ex. 3,4). “I have put my words in your mouth.” (Jer.1:9). Can’t God do the same thing in your life? Of course He can. We just need to be like Isaiah and say, “Here am I, send (use) me however you want to. You don’t need to be eloquent or hold a degree. You just need a yielded heart. God will do the rest. He’ll never fail you. So no more excuses!
