It was that time of year again – car inspection! I was kind of dreading it as my Toyota Rave 4 is over 15 years old. How I praised the Lord when my mechanic said, “It passed!” All the necessary categories were checked okay.
I wonder what it would be like if we had to pass inspection every year or two spiritually. What would be on the “inspection sheet?” Perhaps the following:
>How’s your prayer life? ___excellent ___good ___fair ___not good
>How’s your devotional time with the Lord? ___excellent ___good ___fair ___not good
>Are you attending church regularly? ___all the time ___some times ___miss a lot
>Are you telling others about Jesus? ___a lot ___some times ___never
>Are you “walking in the Spirit?” ___most of the time ___some times ___ hardly ever
>Do you regularly confess your sin to God? ___most of the time ___some times ___never
Aren’t you glad for God’s grace and mercy in our lives? But you know what – He does ask us to examine ourselves and I think that’s a pretty good idea. He says in II Cor. 13:5 “Examine yourselves, whether you are in the faith; prove your own selves. Know you not your own selves, how Jesus Christ is in you, except you fail the test.”
So, with that verse in mind, how do you rate? __Yes, I’m sure I’m saved __I don’t know if I’m saved
___No, I’m not saved. This is the most important test, and most important question to answer.
God also tells the believers to examine themselves to see if there is any sin in their life before partaking of the Lord’s Supper.
We shouldn’t wait one or two years to do this, but determine to examine ourselves regularly. God says, “Be holy, as I am holy.” DO YOU PASS INSPECTION?

Excellent way for us to remember what examine yourself should mean to us.
Have to work really hard to “Be holy.as I am holy.” How do others see us,are we a good example?
