It’s not surprising to me any more that I just don’t tolerate prescription medicine. It seems there is almost always some kind of reaction they give me. If only I’d paid more attention to the list of adverse side effects, perhaps I could have avoided a painful experience. The list included: can cause pain in your bones, joints and muscles. Yes, I was having some pain and swelling in my right knee and leg muscles, but it wasn’t until I felt and heard a “pop” in my knee that I knew something awful was going on. The pain about “sent me to the moon!” After a visit to the ER, I am now awaiting an appointment on Monday with an orthopedic doctor and am presently doing what I can to alleviate pain, keep swelling down and using a cane to help me walk. I just have to wait and see what the verdict is.
It’s great that we have doctors that can help us physically and tools we can use to lean on. But we have a great God in heaven who loves us and cares for us and He wants us to lean on Him more. He is the One who walks with us through difficult times and gives us the strength we need.
A little chorus by John Stallings tells us:
Learning to lean, learning to lean, I’m learning to lean on Jesus.
Finding more power than I’ve ever dreamed, I’m learning to lean on Jesus.
He is our refuge and strength – LEAN ON HIM!
