To look at my jade plant you'd never guess it stated as a 4 inch "slip" given to me by my mother-in-law.  Dipping it in "Root Grow," sticking it into potting soil, and keeping it watered is all I did.  Now, after just a few years, you can see the results.  The stem is thick and strong; the leaves also thick, shiny and healthy.
