The Door

This was a “first” for me.  I had the privilege of going on a bus tour down to Kentucky to view the replica of Noah’s Ark, tour the Creation Museum, zoo and botanical gardens in Cincinnati, and an aquarium.  What a blessed time.  Noah’s Ark was breathtaking and simply awesome; being built to scale (some 3 football fields in length).

Perhaps the one thing that struck me the most was the door and what that symbolized for me. Noah had been instructed by God to build the ark because He was going to bring judgment upon the earth because of all the wickedness in the world. For 120 years Noah and his sons constructed the vessel which would end up holding his family and animals of all sorts.  He preached to the people warning of the coming judgment–the door remaining open.  But once God said, “That’s it; come into the ark; it’s time,” God shut the door and we know what happened after that.  Everyone and everything outside the ark perished.

Right now; today, there is an open door of salvation.  Jesus says “Come.”  His word also says judgment is coming (in a different way this time). He tells us, “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”  Rom. 3:23  But He also says, “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord,”  Rom. 6:23.  Jesus is also “the door.”  As there was only one way into that ark, there is only one way into heaven and that is through Jesus Christ.

My prayer for you today is that you won’t be like the people in Noah’s day and ignore that door (because it won’t also be open)  but that you will say, “Lord I believe; forgive me of my sins, and come into my life and save me.”

Won’t you knock on that door today before it’s too late.  Judgment IS coming, but we don’t know when  It could be very soon!
