My vegetable garden has been yielding abundantly this year in spite of some visits from a hungry deer. I planted some lettuce which has been incredible. It has surprised me with a variety of shades of green, red and purple leaves and textures that vary–delicious! The more I’ve cut, the more it grows.
I can’t help but compare my lettuce with us Christians. We are planted together for the glory of the Lord; we all are different and yet united as one in the Lord with all the varieties of our gifts and talents. And sometimes God chooses to do some pruning in our lives for our good and for the purpose of growing us and making us more fruitful. When we yield to His loving hands we do become more like our Savior and more fruitful.
“Now no chastening for the present seems to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness.” Heb. 12:11
Let’s yield to our “Gardener’s” hands and grow together and serve our Lord faithfully.
