Where’s Your Focus?

Unto thee, O Lord,

The world seems to be spinning out of control.  Our lives, as well, often seem to be doing the same and there seems to be no end in sight.  So, what should we do, crawl in a hole and hope when we come out things will be different?

Some time ago I came across the following four questions to ask myself when I’m going through a difficult situation.  They are meant to help keep us focused in the right direction and on the One who is in control of all things.  I want to share them with you and hope you will find them helpful. Perhaps you can do as I did–write them on a 3 x 5 card and keep it where you can read them every day.  I call it my “Focus Card.”   Here are the questions:

  1.  What is God’s general  design and purpose for me in this life?
  2. What is God’s specific design and purpose for “all things” in my life right now?
  3. Write out your situation and ask, How is this part of God’s “all things?”
  4. In what ways (specific) am I using this present situation to become more like Christ?

“Unto you, O LORD, do I lift up my soul.  Shew me Your ways O LORD; teach me Your paths.  Lead me in Your truth, and teach me: for You are the God of my salvation; on You do I  wait all the day.”  Psalm 25:1,4,5.

So, don’t get down.  Do some serious praying and talking to the Lord–keep your focus on Him and let Him show you what His good and perfect will is for your life.
