An Awesome God Loves You

Scripture:  Ps. 139; I Cor. 6:19; Isa. 40:28, Acts. 16:31, Jude 24, Phil. 4:19

As a child, after a disagreement with a friend, did you ever say, “Everyone hates me, no one likes me; no one cares about me?”  Perhaps as an adult you have even felt the same way.  I suppose it could be true to a certain extent; but there is someone who cares about you and loves you like no one else could do.  Obviously, it’s God.

So how does a God like we have care about someone so insignificant as I? I want to consider 3 characteristics of God that will help you grasp some wonderful truths about how God cares for us.

3 characteristics of God:

> omniscience – omni (all), science (having to do with knowledge)  God is ALL knowing

This means He knows “EVERY” detail of our lives – our feelings, fears, desires, excuses, our pain, heartaches.  He knows what we think, what we do, where we go.  There is no where to run away from Him; no where to hide because He knows where we are.

“O Lord, you have searched me, and known me.”  Psalm 139:1

> omnipresence – omni (all) presence (fully present) God is in ALL places at ALL times.

As a child of God, wherever each of you are right now – across the country or around the world – God is “fully” present with each of you – not just a “part” of Him.  If you are feeling abandoned by everyone, lonely, or fearful, think about this.  You are not alone – God is right there with you.

“…your body is the temple of God.” I Cor. 6:19

(As a child of God He lives in you )

“I will be with you; I will not fail you; or forsake you.”  Josh. 1:5

“Where shall I go from your spirit? or where shall I flee from your presence?” Ps. 139:7

> omnipotence – omni (all), potence (powerful)  God is all powerful.

We know God created the world and everything in it “out of nothing”  To Him it was effortless!

“…The creator of the ends of the earth faints not, neither is weary”  Is. 40:28

God has power over:

     illness                                             (WE SEE ALL THIS IN JESUS’ MIRACLES)

  • His power will save us.  Acts 16:31
  • His power will keep us Jude 24
  • His power will deliver us (Think about Daniel)  What kind of lion do you need to be delivered from?  God is able!
  • His power will meet our needs.  Phil 4:19

Our finite minds find it hard to comprehend how all this could be. And on top of all this – this amazing God loves us so much He was willing to let His Son die for our sins.

  • He knows all about us and He still loves us!
  • He will never leave us – even when we may turn our back on Him!
  • His power will sustain us – we don’t have to rely on our own strength!

Friends and even loved ones may turn against us, but we can NEVER say that we are not loved.  God’s faithfulness and love will never change.

“Great is Thy Faithfulness” by Thomas O. Chisholm

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my father!

There is no shadow of turning with Thee;

Thou changest not–Thy compassions, they fail not:

As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.

Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!

Morning by morning new mercies I see;

All I have needed Thy hand hath provided–

great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!
